Bye, bye, Miss American Pie

I am probably not the only person in America who views today with trepidation. At least I hope I'm not. The joyous throngs crowding the National Mall, having endured an unprecedented security phalanx, exhibit their new-found patriotism by waving a flag they once derided as a symbol of oppression as they await a glimpse of The One. Their Messiah. The Great Black Hope.

It's tough seeing this great country surrendered to the hegemony of a Kenyan Marxist Muslim. P.T. Barnum was right, you can fool all of the people. Barack Hussein Obama is living proof. He is the ultimate empty suit. He's never done anything remotely comparable to the job he now faces. He is untested in battle, unable to call upon experience, and unaware of his limitations. He is drunk on the aroma of his own hype and hellbent on remaking our nation into a socialist workers paradise.

Yet, many of my conservative friends wish him well and laud the peaceful transition of power. They praise the ascention of a black man to the highest office in the land as a testament to the inherent goodness of the American spirit. But is Barack Obama where he is today because of who he is (ie, the content of his character) or merely because of the color of his skin? Are the celebrations in honor of Barack Obama the man, or simply a knee-jerk reaction to the election of a black man, any black man, to the presidency? Time will tell, but I believe it is the latter. How could it be otherwise? He has no discernable record of accomplishment. He has only produced rhetoric with vague promises of hope and change onto which a majority of our citizens have hitched their wagons.

His supporters are the quintessential summer soldiers and sunshine patriots; they love America now that their guy has been elected. It doesn't matter that their guy is the protege of an unrepentant domestic terrorist; yesterday they lit our flag on fire, today they wave it to salute the culmination of their 1960s radicalism. Barack Obama is now The Man, so The Man is no longer evil. The Man will now begin to dismantle all that has been built upon the cornerstone of our democracy; he will reshape our republic into something unrecognizable to the Founding Fathers he claims to venerate.

All across America people are giddily anticipating his success. Thankfully not everyone has been subsumed into the Obama-Borg collective. Rush Limbaugh said it quite succinctly — I Hope Obama Fails. Obama's plans are not compatible with what Rush (and I) believe is right for America; why should we support him? My friends at The Patriot Room agree. They liken Obama to Jimmy Carter V2.0. They envision gas lines, massive unemployment, and bankrupt cities. It is the only way his sycophants will be forced to accept that they were wrong.

I see him becoming the presidential equivalent of David Dinkins. Dinkins ran New York City into the ground. Obama will do the same to America. Under Dinkins crime ran rampant, squeegee men ruled the streets, infrastructure decayed, and the city teetered on the edge of bankruptcy. Dinkins surrounded himself with political hacks who couldn't anticipate or solve New York's mounting problems. Obama has selected his closest advisors not for their ability or expertise but for their loyalty to him and his causes.

Name one Obama appointee who was picked for ability over political calculus. There aren't any; Barry has surrounded himself with career second-stringers who lack the ability to foresee the crises ahead of us. Leon Panetta and Janet Napolitano will not keep up safe. Hillary Clinton is already selling Israel out to the Palestinians (it's no accident that the "cease fire" occurred yesterday). Eric Holder has already established that access to the president goes to the highest bidder (Marc Rich). Rahm Emanuel is a glorified bagman.

Four years is more than enough time for Team Obama to strip our nation of its defenses, grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens (and the terrorists who undoubtedly reside among them), completely nationalize whole industries while reinvigorating unions and their corrupt leadership, and grant unfettered access to abortion up to the moment of birth. He'll completely eradicate God from the public sphere (first to go, "In God We Trust" from all US currency). He's too sly to openly replace God with Allah, but watch for a not so gradual endorsement of sharia courts and complete accomodation of Islam in the name of tolerance. He'll regulate away our right to own guns. He'll draft our children into his mandatory corps of public service, forcing them to toil for free to advance his socialistic goal of shared labor over individual achievement.

His naivete would grant legitimacy to Castro's Cuba, North Korea, Iran, and all their demented client states. Rather than continue treating them like pariahs he will welcome them as equals even as they laugh behind his back and plot our destruction.

He cannot be allowed to succeed in his quest. We cannot permit the United States to be reformulated as a lesser facsimile of France. We cannot stand idly by as our country is destroyed. Barack Hussein Obama must fail.
