How to dispel the birthers once and for all

Sarah Palin has reignited the birther controversary. Appearing on the Rusty Humphries show yesterday Palin said that questions surrounding President Obama's birth certificate are a "legitimate issue".

Talk about igniting a firestorm! Memeorandum is going wild.

I agree with Andy McCarthy — "The birth-certificate controversy is about Obama's honesty, not where he was born."

There is no doubt that Barack Hussein Obama was born in Hawaii on August 4, 1961. To believe otherwise is to also believe that Hillary Clinton, given a chance to prove that assertion, would not have done so? If the Clintons didn't find any "there" there, then there definitely is no "there" there.

No, to me the real issue is what else is contained on Obama's actual Birth Certificate, the one sealed up inside that vault in Honolulu. We've all seen the Certification of Live Birth which is a synopsis of the full Birth Certificate. McCarthy goes into excruciating detail as to the material differences between the two documents. RTWT.

How hard is for Mr. Obama to release the original document? Go to Honolulu. Walk into the vault. Bring the original copy (from 1961) out into the light of day. Let it be photographed and copied. Doing so will immediately dispel all the birther rumors. It will take the wind right out of their sails.

He'll be there for Christmas. It's the perfect opportunity.

But it may very well open up a much bigger can of worms. Why else is he hiding it? One of those additional pieces of information on the original form (that is not present on the Certification of Live Birth) is the religion of each parent. Mr. Obama has taken great pains to distance himself from any assertion that he was once a Muslim. (Although it is almost a certainty that he practised the Muslim faith while living in Indonesia.)

It would rock the universe if Barack Obama was in fact born a Muslim.
