Technorati is indexing me again! They had to make a code change to fix the problem with my blog getting stuck in their queue. Kudos to Eric M. and the guys at GetSatisfaction.com where they have "community powered support for Technorati".
Well, they're "sorta, kinda" indexing me anyway. It's on a 24 hour tape delay or something. So I never get picked up by Memeorandum because they pull from Technorati and Technorati has stuff I posted yesterday listed as my latest blog entry. And that's old news to Memeorandum.
Wankers.
Recent headlines from my Posterous Blog:
Never in my life have I been more pessimistic about the future of this great nation as I am today.
The fall of the American Republic began in earnest last night when 60 Senators opted to nationalize one sixth of our economy. Oh sure, they're going to go through the charade of a "debate" but this was the key vote; all that's needed now are 51 votes for the final bill and Barry and Harry and Nancy's dream of a populace dependant on their government from cradle to grave will be complete.
You'd think they'd have learned a lesson from New Jersey (or for that matter, California). For too long our state was governed by the people who vote for a living and they voted themselves lavish benefits which ended up breaking the backs of the few of us who still work for a living.
Chris Christie came along in the nick of time and with any luck he'll bring New Jersey back from the brink of disaster.
But the lesson appears to be lost on Liberals and Democrats. They believe in magic unicorns who promise to bring unlimited government bounty to the huddled masses. Their favorite funding source, "the rich", are a proverbial bottomless well of tax revenue destined for one purpose — the pacification of an electorate who eschew hard work and view voting for free stuff as an express ticket to the promised land.
If you don't buy health insurance your government will put you in jail. One dollar per month of your insurance premiums go toward federal funding of abortion.
The Founding Fathers are turning over in their graves.
Our nation, conceived in Liberty, and baptised with the blood of Patriots, has sold its soul to the devil. The Founders understood the vast difference between the pursuit of happiness and its guarantee by virtue of confiscatory taxation and wealth transfer. We have an electorate who fail to grasp a singular basic truth; a government large enough to give you everything you want is also large enough to take away everything you have.
Like ancient Greece and Rome before us, hubris and selfishness (with more than a touch of licentiousness thrown in for good measure) have enabled the means of our downfall. America will crumble under the weight of an unsustainable welfare state. Historians will note that like the Emperor Nero, Obama fiddled while America (metaphorically) burned.
I pray that from the ashes there will emerge a purer nation, rededicated to individual liberty and equality of opportunity rather than equality of outcome. I fear that this prayer will not be answered.
